AP Calculus AB is an Advanced Placement course and exam offered by the College Board in the United States. The course is designed to provide students with a college-level calculus education, and is typically taken by high school students in their 10th or 11th year.
The AP Calculus AB curriculum covers topics such as limits and continuity, derivatives and their applications, integrals and their applications, and differential equations. Students are also expected to have a strong foundation in algebra, trigonometry, and geometry.
The AP Calculus AB exam consists of two sections: a multiple-choice section and a free-response section. The multiple-choice section consists of 45 questions, and students are given 1 hour and 45 minutes to complete it. The free-response section consists of six questions, and students are given 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete it.
If a student scores a 3 or higher on the exam, they may be eligible to receive college credit for the course, depending on the policies of the college or university they plan to attend.
